Workplace transformation is not about legal issues, job descriptions, payroll, or process evaluations…it’s about people. Emotional intelligence competencies can lead to a deep awareness of how you collaborate with and motivate others; how you build rapport and trust, and most importantly, how you exert interpersonal authority. It is the ability to influence that will create the lasting workplace impact that every HR professional dreams about.
The emotional intelligence quotient (EQ) should be understood by every HR Department. EQ has proven to save time and money while increasing the growth rate and efficiency of an organization.
Participants in this workshop will learn to utilize emotional intelligence more effectively, resulting in an increased ability to engage with others and expand their influence. Key elements of this highly interactive workshop and presentation include:

Everyone has the right to equal treatment in employment and cannot be discriminated against on the basis of actual or perceived disability. Accommodation is a way of helping employees work more effectively by overcoming limitations caused by disabilities, including mental illness.
Changes in labour law, occupational health and safety, employment standards, workers compensation, and human rights decisions are all pointing in the need for employers to provide a psychologically safe workplace. Join us on Wednesday, February 28th at noon ET as our guest speakers unpack these developments and share what employers need to know and do to support their employees in realizing their potential and contributing to their workplace and broader community.
Business professionals have described grants as a 'pie in the sky'; they know they exist, but they can’t seem to access them. Some have heard of grants or have even applied for one or two in the past, but the process can be challenging, confusing, and time-consuming. Many grants are relate to HR activities and can support hiring, training and market expansion needs. This presentation outlines best practices when preparing for upcoming grants and developing an effective grant strategy for your business. It also covers ongoing grant programs that are currently accepting applications to impact your company today.

An Introduction to Concepts of Gender Identity and Best Practices to Support an Employee Transitioning Their Gender in the Workplace
We are currently witnessing the increase of awareness about transgender issues in what Time Magazine (June 2014) has dubbed the "next civil rights frontier." In 2016, the Trudeau administration has introduced Bill C-16 to provide transgender people with full rights and protections in the Canadian Charter of Rights. As the political, social, and legal landscape improves, more transgender people feel comfortable to share their innermost truth regarding their gender identity within the workplace. Are you ready to support the transitioning employee as well as their co-workers and clients with this change?
Transition planning entails a systems approach to identifying and discussing a complex set of interrelated factors that require sequenced coordination to allow an employee, their co-workers, and possible clients to smoothly and to confidently transition their gender on the job. Through the use of transition guidelines you can work with the transgender employee to consider how to best engage co-workers and possible clients.
For many, transgender issues in the workplace are new territory. Concepts of gender identity may feel overwhelming. The presenters bring an open and friendly approach to provide a session that aims to be highly interactive and engaging. In particular, through evocative icebreakers we begin by situating attendees within their own experiences of gender identity to demystify, clarify, and reduce the trepidation and hesitation typically associated with this topic. Participants will be introduced to concepts of gender identity as well as the unique challenges and barriers faced by transgender employees. The session will also summarize broad themes of best practices and lessons learned from TransFocus’ work supporting companies and their transitioning employees.
Learning Objectives:
Identify keys areas where companies can ensure the workplace is inclusive to transgender employees and applicants.

Helping organizations change can be challenging work. Sometimes it is simply because change itself is hard. More often it is because most organizations aren’t very good at it. So when they are trying to change, they are rarely at their best.
If you are internal to the organization, you may think you already know what is going on. You do, to a point; but you don’t have as clear a picture as you need. If you are a external you have some assumptions about what is going on, but you know you need to learn more. Both perspectives benefit greatly by using a comprehensive framework to fully understand the situation in a changing organization.
This insightful webinar provides a deep insight into how you can help your organization change more effectively. The critically important skill you must master when helping organizations change is to objectively understand the situation. Bring your work home, take this webinar and learn how to shape the right perspective for your next move in your changing organization.

The presentation is highly interactive, thought provoking and guaranteed to generate good, deep, discussion about how Change is, and should be, implemented in an organization. It is also, unavoidably – fun.
What must we do to bring about a Change initiative as smoothly as possible? Communicate! Communicate! Communicate! How much, and for how long do we do this? Until we get sick and tired of the sound of our own voice – then we take a deep breath and a drink of water and we start all over again. Communication isn’t something that stops and starts; it’s a constant activity before, during and after any Change initiative.
This isn’t exactly news. We sort of get this. I can ask any audience in the world to tell me the ‘secret’ to good Change and they repeat back “Communicate, Communicate and Communicate some more!” as if it’s been forcefully injected into their cerebellum. The problem arises when the questioning becomes a bit more detailed, “What exactly should we communicate?”
The response to that question is usually either a blank stare or the reasonable recitation of the reporter’s standby; Who, What, Where, When, How and Why. Not a bad start. If we’re writing a news article, then these are good solid questions. The Change Management problem requires all of those, and a few others besides. It’s not that the reporter’s questions are a poor tool; it’s just that they don’t address the peculiar psychology of the Change challenge.
When faced with Change – here are the questions that demand answers:

OVERVIEW
This workshop is designed to help participants implement strategic HR in their organizations. Strategic HR is defined as: Integrating human resource management strategies and systems to achieve the overall mission, strategies, and success of the firm while meeting the needs of employees and other stakeholders.
Source: Herman Schwind, Hari Das and Terry Wagar, Human Resource Management: A Strategic Approach.
Achieving this definition has been difficult because traditionally HR has been seen as “the office down the hall”. The first step in implementing Strategic HR is understanding both what it is and why it is rare.
This workshop will be interactive and draw on the experiences of all participants. Sharing of best practices will enable all participants to walk away with an action plan.

The presentation will feature a review of recent legal cases in the areas of labour and employment law from courts and tribunals, including decisions which are likely to be of interest to HR professionals. We will also address the recent legislative amendments to the Employment Standards Act with respect to leaves for the purpose of dealing with domestic violence which came into force as of September 1, 2018. As well, amendments to the NB Occupational Health and Safety Act will impose new obligations on employers in New Brunswick regarding harassment and violence in the workplace. The changes come into force on April 1, 2019 and require employers who do not have a written harassment policy to implement one, with some specific features and training requirements as well as the involvement of the joint occupational health and safety committee (JOHSC). It will also mean that employers who have a harassment policy in place will need to review it to ensure it complies with the Regulation in terms of content, training and frequency of reviews. Description:
In October 2017, the #MeToo movement was born on social media to demonstrate the widespread prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, especially in the workplace. The movement went viral, with millions of women coming forward with their own stories of abuse. While allegations against high-profile celebrities such as Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K. and Bill Cosby may dominate headlines, #MeToo has moved millions of women to collectively say "Time's Up".
The increased awareness of sexual assault and harassment is certainly something to celebrate, however it should also indicate to many employers that workplace practices also need to evolve with the times. This presentation will focus on the legal and practical implications of #MeToo.
